SGS “I Am Woman” Black History Event Recap

Sigma Gamma Sigma Sorority Is Known for being original,and when black history month came around,we wanted to bring the SL Greek Community something different,that would be a huge impact,and leave a few people wanting more.

SGS Princess Ms Candy Nowles,our Event Planner,came up with an idea of how we can pay tribute to the wonderful African Americans who paved a way for a lot of us today,by acting as if were we them,into an alter ego way. The Entire Venue Was Custom Built By Candy’s Husband Deshawn. The Phrase “I Am Woman” states,that we speak,breath,and live the lives there women have. We had amazing guest that was arriving,as the sgs sisters were backstage in their dressing room,getting ready.

SGS Big Sisters acted out strong african american women who has made a huge mark on history. Some of the legends that were played out last night was, Michelle Obama,Madam CJ Walker,Rosa Parks,Toni Morrison,Phyllis Wheatley,Billie Holiday,Lena Horne, Maya  Angelou & Cicely Tyson. Each Sister gave you the life,and backround of each of these amazing woman,and took you a turn back into time. Some of our guest learn more info about these amazing women,and learn to appreciate the legacy they left.

After Each Sister Presented Their Piece,the finale contain the SGS Sister in a lovely Custom All Purple Formal Gown,thanking and reciting a speech to our guests. Everyone was moved and enjoyed it!

SGS had an amazing time,putting this together,we would like to first thank all the family & friends,and SGS Supporters who came. Alpha Kai Delta Sorority Inc. For their presence. We also like to thank  King/Emperor Montanan who was our clothing designer,Our Sister Blessing Moonswing for being our caterer,Our Sister MzFierce aka Sweetz for the fashion tips & guru,Deshawn Nowles for the wonderful built of our custom venue,Our Sister Candy Nowles,for the idea,the setup and being a huge helping hand. We like to think Our Sister Emberlady for writing the scripts and everyone who attended. And Last But Not Least,Our SGS Big Sisters for giving us an amazing show,that everyone enjoyed! SGS Big Sister Of The Month February 2013…

Sigma Gamma Sigma’s Big Sister Of The Month of February is someone who’s loyalty goes above & beyond,and that’s person is Ms EmberLady Resident aka Sigma Princess Tenacious Jewel.

Ms Ember has been in SGS/Divas For Over A Year Now,and since crossing over she has shown leadership,and loyalty since day one. This last Month she has given her support 100% to SGS,by helping with each event the best she can,be a support shoulder to lean on to all the sisters that comes her way,and letting the grid know what a true bond,sisterhood SGS is. No Matter what comes up,Ember always strives to give her best in every aspect,and always have a caring,sharing heart to every sister in SGS. We are proud to call you our sister,and we appreciate everything you do. You have been true to SGS since day one,and the last few weeks you prove that in more ways than one,and that’s what makes you an SGS Big Sister For Life!
